At the 15th Odesa International Film Festival, there will be special screenings of films within the «Festival of Festivals» programme, which includes movies from leading international film festivals.
This year, the programme includes 6 films, in particular a children's movie.
«Un silence» («A Silence»), directed by Joachim Lafosse, 2023
«A Silence» was selected to compete for the Golden Shell at the 71st San Sebastián International Film Festival, where the film had its world premiere on 25 September 2023. Having remained silent for 25 years, Astrid, the wife of a prominent lawyer, sees her family’s equilibrium shatter when her children initiate their quest for justice. The film is based on the real case of disgraced Belgian lawyer Victor Hissel.
«Los pequeños amores» («Little Loves»), directed by Celia Rico Clavellino, 2024
The film was presented at the 27th Málaga Film Festival on 4 March 2024. «Los pequeños amores» is a film about two women from different generations who have chosen seemingly opposite paths in life and now find themselves back in the same place together, going through the bittersweet experience of love and loneliness.
«Vogter» («Sons»), directed by Gustav Möller, 2024
The European co-production between Denmark and Sweden was selected in the Competition at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival, where it competed for the Golden Bear with its first screening on 22 February at Berlinale Palast. Eva, an idealistic prison officer, is faced with the dilemma of her life when a young man from her past gets transferred to the prison where she works. Without revealing her secret, Eva asks to be moved to the young man’s ward – the toughest and most violent in the prison. Here begins an unsettling psychological thriller, where Eva’s sense of justice puts both her morality and future at stake.

«Segundo premio» («Saturn Return»), directed by Isaki Lacuesta, 2024
The film was presented at the 27th Málaga Film Festival on 5 March 2024. «Saturn Return» is a musical drama film inspired by the story of the musical band Los Planetas. Late 1990s. Art and culture are in full swing in Granada. Against that background, an indie band is about to change the music scene in Spain. Just before creating their new album, the band is going through its worst possible moment.
«Maria's Silence», directed by Dāvis Sīmanis, 2024
The world premiere of the film took place at the 74th Berlin Film Festival in February 2024. A film based on the true story of silent film actress Maria Leiko, who travels to Stalin's Russia (1937) upon the news of her newborn granddaughter. Soon after, Maria is faced with the brutality of the KGB, who threaten both her family and career.
The 15th Odesa International Film Festival will take place from July 12 to 20, 2024, in Kyiv.
