The 16th Odesa International Film Festival announced the schedule of master classes, which will be held from September 25 to October 2 at the “Zhovten” cinema (26 Kostyantynivska St., Classic Hall).
The events will bring together leading Ukrainian and international film professionals, actors, directors, producers and film critics. Within the framework of the program, participants will be able to learn about modern methods of work in cinema, documentary, acting and film critical analysis.
Among the key speakers of the master classes is Taisiia Turchyn, the head of the Mediatheque of the Public, who will talk about the largest media archive in Ukraine and its opportunities for filmmakers, journalists and researchers. People's Artist of Ukraine Oleksandr Pecherytsia will share his own acting experience, and actress Natalka Denysenko will conduct the training "Holos na milion", which will help participants discover voice and communication capabilities in the profession and everyday life.
The program will also be presented by well-known international experts. Film Director Joe Hill and cinematographer Nathaniel Brown will talk about the use of dance and movement as tools of documentary storytelling. Oscar and Emmy nominee Yevhen Afineievskyi will share his experience working in conflict zones. Lithuanian filmmakers Arturas Evdokimovas and Ringaile Leschinskene will talk about documentary filmmaking and the art of pitching.
Special attention will be paid to film criticism and professional practices. Famous Ukrainian critics and experts, including Oksana Volosheniuk, Serhii Trymbach, Volodymyr Voitenko and others, will discuss the current state of criticism in wartime. Ihor Ivanko, cinematographer and gaffer, will present the initiative “FILMAR. The Lighting Crew”, which helps to optimize production processes and involve veterans and people with disabilities in film work.
Access to the master classes is possible with festival tickets or subscriptions, which allow you to visit several events within the program.
