Ukraine produces extraordinary talent — but it is not always able to keep it. More than 40 million Ukrainians live outside the country — roughly the same number as those living in Ukraine itself. They are intelligent, hardworking, creative, and ambitious. Some consciously chose to build their lives abroad, while others found themselves there by chance, in a stable world with strong social protections.

But there are also those who choose a different path. People with successful careers, prestigious educations, and international recognition who decide to return home. They trade comfort for challenge, stability for a dream.

What drives these individuals? Why, after seeing the world, do they choose Ukraine once again? And what kind of country are they helping to build — for themselves, for all of us, and for future generations?

The film follows four real-life stories of Ukrainians who made the decision to return and create change in their homeland. Four initiatives, five protagonists, countless journeys — and one shared purpose: to develop themselves in order to help develop Ukraine.

DIRECTOR - VOLODYMYR MULA

Biography

Volodymyr Mula is a film director, producer, sports journalist, Sports Emmy® Winner and honored Art Worker of Ukraine.

Throughout his professional career, he has collaborated with leading television networks, including the British BBC, American CBS, and Singaporean CNA. He has covered major events such as the Eurovision Song Contest for seven years (2011-2017), the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, the 2016 European Football Championship in France, and the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

Mula is also known for his documentary works, including Amazon Prime's "American Dream: In Search of the Truth" (2017) and "UKE" (2020). In 2021, he filmed a documentary titled "The Football Nation" about Ukraine's first soccer team. In 2025, he filmed a documentary titled "The Interception Game" – the story of two Ukrainian brothers: one on the battlefield, the other on the football field, during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Volodymyr worked as a director and field producer on the Sports Emmy® Awards-winning television series "Football Must Go On" (2023) for Paramount+/CBS, as well as on 'We're The Zoomers' (2023) for the CNA television network.
