A wealthy peasant, Gerasim Kalitka, wants to buy his neighbor's land, but he doesn't have enough money. The unknown offers him to buy one hundred thousand fake money for five thousand. Kalitka together with the best man Savka buy this money. But instead of money, they are sold blank paper. In desperation, Kalitka wants to hang himself, but he is saved. Kalitka's greed almost ended in tragedy, but he continues to dream of land.

Biography
Valeriy Shalyga is a ukrainian film director, actor, screenwriter, producer. Honored Artist of Ukraine, Member of the Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine, Member of the Expert Commission at State Cinema. He was born on June 23, 1963 in the village of Velyki Korovyntsi, Chudniv district, Zhytomyr region.
In 1985, he graduated from the theater studio at the Kyiv Academic Theater named after I. Franko. In 1993, he made his debut as a film director at the O.P. Dovzhenko film studio (A.Y. Voytetskyi's workshop). In 1999, he graduated from the Kyiv Theater Institute named after I. Karpenko-Kary.
