Biography
Benjamin Clavel was born in Paris in 1982. He spent his childhood in Pierrefonds (Oise) and then studied in Paris, first at the ENSAAMA and then at the ENSAD. He graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris in 2009 and directed the medium-length film Nouvelle Lune, which was selected for the 2010 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.
Benjamin Clavel then directed On The Rocks, a short film co-produced by Dub Films in 2011. He embarked on his first documentary film with Nomad’s Land. It followed the wanderings of a new circus company for a year.
While continuing to make short films, Benjamin Clavel explored cinema through documentary films. He also continued his personal writing by directing Marie, dompteuse de crabe, the portrait of a young woman fighting cancer with strength and panache, commissioned in 2017 for France 3 television.
