2023 / 113' / Ukraine, France

June 1941. Preparations for the wedding of a butcher’s son and a rabbi’s daughter are in full swing in a Jewish shtetl in the Lviv Region. The intrigue of this seemingly ordinary event is that Yuna – the bride – loves another man and he, Mendele… plans to kidnap her. At this very time, a Nazi death squad is approaching the shtetl.

Ady Walter is a director and scriptwriter. His first documentary, co-produced by INA & TV5, “Shalom Amigos”, received an IFTA Award at the British Film Institute. In 2014, he co-scripted “Mr X” produced by Arte. Ady then directed two films for Quad Productions: “Joseph Joffo, Un Français” (TF1/ Histoire), and another in association with Eric Toledano & Olivier Nakache “Barnum”. In 2016, he won the Selection of the GAN Foundation & Groupe Ouest, with Michale Boganim, for the screenplay of “Anna’s Song” (in development). From 2018 to 2021, Ady wrote and directed several documentaries, among others, for the France Télévisions and Canal+ (Ciné +) groups.
