Biography
Taras Tomenko is a Ukrainian film director and screenwriter. He has been a member of the Ukrainian and European Film Academies since 2018. He was born on February 6, 1976, in Kyiv. He graduated from Kyiv State University of Theater, Film and Television. Karpenko Kary – Faculty of Film and Television Arts and Faculty of Philology, Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv. In 2004, he participated in the Berlinale Talents Campus.
The historical drama "The Slovo House. Unfinished Novel" was directed by Taras Tomenko, based on a screenplay he co-wrote with Lyubov Yakimchuk. The feature film is rooted in the documentary "The Slovo House," which premiered in 2017 in Kharkiv. The film project, which took over 10 years to complete, was one of the winners of the State Cinema competition. The world premiere of the film took place at the 37th Warsaw Film Festival in 2021, and the Ukrainian premiere was at the "Mykolaichuk OPEN" festival. The film was released in Ukrainian cinemas on May 9, 2024.
