A wounded 21-year-old soldier slips from the battlefields of today into the winter of Maidan, awakening inside the March of Millions in December 2013. Guided by memory, he searches for Dali a young poet and future warrior destined to die ten years later. As past and present collide, he confronts a painful truth: freedom is not the power to rewrite fate but the courage to choose it.

Biography

Born in 1971 in Chervonograd, Lviv region, he graduated from the Kyiv State Institute of Theatrical Art in 1997. A filmmaker and TV creator, he gained early recognition in the 1990s with award-winning short films. He later became an author, director, and producer of major Ukrainian film projects and has been involved in documentary work since 2013. Co-creator and head of Babylon'13 film collective.

DIRECTOR - ROMAN LIUBYI

Biography

Born in 1991 in Kyiv to a family of visual artists, I studied theater and graduated from I.K. Karpenko-Kary University in non-fiction filmmaking. Since 2013, I’ve worked as a member of Babylon’13 film collective. In 2015 my daughter Orysia was born.

My debut War Note uses soldiers’ recordings. Iron Butterflies, my 2nd film premiered at Sundance and Berlinale 2023.

In 2024, I joined the Ukrainian army.
