As part of the 17th Odesa International Film Festival in Kyiv, Producer’s Lab — a three-day mentoring workshop for producers led by Katriel Schory, one of the most influential figures in the international film industry with more than 40 years of experience — will take place.
The workshop will be held within the Film Industry Office, the industry section of the 17th Odesa International Film Festival, which will take place in Kyiv from 27 August to 4 September with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency and the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
Katriel Schory founded BELFILMS in 1974 and, over the course of 25 years, produced more than 150 films and television programmes. In 1999, he became Executive Director of the Israel Film Fund, where over the following two decades he supported more than 300 Israeli feature films, helping transform a small national cinema into one of the world’s most internationally acclaimed film industries. Since then, he has become one of the most respected voices in global cinema, serving as a mentor at the Venice Film Festival, TorinoFilmLab, EAVE, and numerous other international initiatives. This year, he brings his expertise to Kyiv.
Throughout the workshop, emerging producers will explore what it truly means to build a sustainable career in the film industry. Sessions will focus on finding and developing projects, building long-term creative partnerships between producers and directors, navigating film financing and co-production structures, confidently pitching projects to the right decision-makers, and approaching career development strategically rather than focusing solely on the next film.
Participation is free of charge. The workshop will be conducted in English. All selected participants will receive an OIFF Industry Badge and invitations to the festival’s Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
