Kuba and Alaska are best friends and paramedics who are defending Ukraine by saving lives on the front line. Together, they face the challenges of war with courage, humour and friendship. At the same time, they share a story common to all servicemen and women: the longer they remain on the front line, the further they drift from their friends, family and their former lives. This is a story about how war changes people, but does not destroy them. Even in the darkest moments, it is possible to hold on to one’s inner light.

DIRECTOR - YEGOR TROYANOVSKY

Biography

Yegor Troyanovsky is a filmmaker, screenwriter, and cinematographer whose work has received both Ukrainian and international recognition. His latest feature documentary, CUBA & ALASKA, a story of two female paramedics and close friends, premiered at Sheffield DocFest and went on to receive numerous awards, including the Best Documentary Film Award at the Rome Film Festival, as well as the Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the Brussels International Film Festival, among others. Yegor is currently serving in the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces.
