Following the German invasion of Poland in 1939, Soviet forces occupy the country's eastern territories. In the Kozelsk prisoner-of-war camp, pianist and reserve officer Grabowski becomes engaged in a psychological duel with NKVD Major Zarubin, who seeks to recruit him as a collaborator. Strengthened by an unexpected reunion with his wife, Grabowski refuses to betray his principles. In the spring of 1940, he and other prisoners are transported to Katyn.

Biography

Łukasz Palkowski is a Polish film director and screenwriter born in Warsaw in 1976. He gained international recognition with Gods (2014), the acclaimed biographical drama about pioneering cardiac surgeon Zbigniew Religa, which won Poland’s top film awards. Known for combining strong character-driven storytelling with commercial appeal, he has directed award-winning feature films and television series, including Breaking the Limits, Belfer, and Gorky Resort.
