When the war breaks out in Ukraine, Sasha — a father and civilian — is forced to redefine his role overnight. What begins as a mission to protect his family quickly turns into a commitment he cannot abandon. As he moves between home and the frontline, between care and combat, Sasha is caught in a growing tension between responsibility and survival. Heading Home is an intimate portrait of a man navigating impossible choices, where the idea of “home” becomes uncertain.

Biography

Producer, director, and cinematographer. For over 15 years, he has focused on armed conflicts and socio‑political transformations around the world. He produced and filmed documentaries in Iraq, Syria, Venezuela, Armenia, Belarus, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. His directorial debut, Living with the Taliban, received the Grand Prix at the HumanDOC IDFF. Graduate of the Dok Pro program at the Wajda School. Founder of Marchello Production and FreeDoc Foundation.
