Biography

Denys Kolesnikov (b. 1987, Luhansk, Ukraine) is a director and screenwriter whose work explores personal and family crises set against the backdrop of profound historical change.He holds degrees in Economics and Business, as well as International Economics, from Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University. Before dedicating himself to cinema, he worked in a range of sectors in Ukraine and the United States — a period that significantly shaped his narrative perspective.He later studied filmmaking at the Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television, specializing in feature film directing under the mentorship of Borys Savchenko, a People’s Artist of Ukraine.In 2025, he completed his debut feature film, Kira’s Dream, which is slated for its festival premiere in 2026.He lives and works in Ukraine.
