Silence of the Estuaries is a meditative documentary set in Ukraine’s Tuzly Estuaries National Nature Park during a full-scale war. Across four seasons, scientist Ivan, park director Iryna, and their team document war crimes against nature, rescue birds, fight poaching, and restore fragile ecosystems. A reflection on life and death, the film reveals the fragility of nature and the quiet strength of those who defend it.

DIRECTOR - VOLODYMYR BAKUM

Biography

Ukrainian film director and screenwriter. A graduate of the Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Kary Theatre, Cinema, and Television University. Winner of numerous Ukrainian film festivals with his student films.

During his studies, he created the trilogy “Donbas, I Love You.” The screenplay for the short film “My Family and Other Animals” was among the winners of the Kira Muratova Script Competition (2021), and the project itself won at the pitching of the Shift Film Festival.
