The documentary Veterans’ Theater tells the stories of Ukrainian veterans, active-duty soldiers, female combat medics, and volunteers as they navigate the path of rehabilitation through theater. At its heart are personal stories, rehearsals, internal transformations, and the attempt to reinterpret their experiences through art. The film observes the creation of a theatrical project where creativity serves as a tool for recovery, socialization, and returning to life after war — turning the stage into a space of trust, support, and new beginnings.

Biography

Yulia Bolshynska is a Ukrainian film director, cinematographer, and editor with more than 20 years of experience in documentary cinema and multimedia projects. In 2025, she directed and shot the films “Palyanytsia” and “Veterans’ Theater.” She worked on the projects “Culture vs War,” “The Will to Win – Volia do Peremohy!,” “Soldiers of Song,” and “Solomiia.” Her works combine documentary observation, expressive visual language, and a strong focus on human stories.
