2024 / 93' / feature / Iceland, Spain
The Icelandic Church is facing an ecclesiastical crisis. Their stock of sacramental wine is dwindling due to “popular demand” – a surprising turn of events, given that this wine tastes like it's been blessed with the power to repel rather than attract the faithful. In a bold move, the Bishop of Iceland sends a quartet of unsuspecting priests to Rioja in search of a divine elixir worthy of the congregation's refined palates – or at least something that won’t double as paint remover. Tasked with a mission that's part wine tasting, part divine intervention, these holy sommeliers take to their sacred duty with an enthusiasm typically reserved for miracle workers. Unfortunately, they're so enthralled by the Spanish vineyards that they miss the minor details – like the Second Coming of Christ happening in the background.
