In Family Affairs we enter the home of Teresa (Machi), a place that becomes the nerve center where her daughters (Lennie, Luengo, Escolar, and Grimaldos) and her mother-in-law (Cordón), a nonagenarian with senile dementia living under her care, all come together. The daughters reunite with their mother and grandmother in a family gathering at the house to commemorate the anniversary of their father’s death. The different personalities of the sisters – the caregiver, the rebel, the wild one, the adventurous yet absent one – spark multiple conflicts, causing the protagonists to clash with one another while also confronting their own frustrations, fears, and desires.

Biography

Carolina África (Madrid, 1980) es directora, dramaturga, guionista, actriz y productora-socia fundadora de La Belloch Teatro S.L. Estudio en la Facultad de Ciencias de la Información de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y es Licenciada en interpretación por la RESAD.

Sus textos han sido representados en el Centro Dramático Nacional y Teatro Español, entre otros, girando además por Alemania, Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay, México y Ecuador. También han sido publicados por distintas editoriales y montados y traducidos en Inglaterra (Teatro Cervantes) e Italia (Teatro Nacional de Génova).

En cine ha trabajado como actriz con David Trueba (Vivir es fácil con los ojos cerrados, Casi 40) y Arantxa Echevarría (Carmen y Lola).

Como guionista ha trabajado en Mujeres en la dos y La matemática del espejo para TVE y ha adaptado al cine Verano en diciembre, siendo su ópera prima como directora.

Ha realizado también versiones para la Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico y colaboraciones en la dirección de escena del ballet de Antonio Najarro La argentina en París.
