Mona lives with her thirty-something son, Joël, who is “behind the times”. He works in a specialized institution, an ESAT, and is passionately in love with his colleague Océane, who is also disabled. While Mona knows nothing of this relationship, she learns that Océane is pregnant. The close relationship between mother and son begins to unravel.

Biography

Anne-Sophie Bailly was born and raised in Franche-Comté. She started out as an actress in theater and film before joining the Femis directing department in 2017. There, between 2018 and 2021, she directed several short films, navigating between documentary (En Travail in 2019) and fiction. Her films are marked by a taste for staging groups, and the themes of care, maternity, filiation and transmission. Her graduation short, La Ventrière (2021), is steeped in these obsessions. It was selected for over forty festivals worldwide, from France (Clermont-Ferrand) to the United States (Telluride), and won no less than a dozen awards. In addition to directing, she has co-written several screenplays, including Le Procès du Chien with Laetitia Dosch, selected at Cannes in the Un Certain Regard category.

Her first feature film, My everything (Mon Inséparable), starring Laure Calamy and the young Charles Peccia-Galletto and Julie Froger, premiered in the Orizzonti competition at the Venice Film Festival 2024.
