Joseph Marti, an unremarkable bookbinder, quits his job after a clash with his supervisor. He is transported to a villa in the early 20th century, where he becomes assistant to inventor and engineer Tobler. There he gradually turns into a factotum and gains the confidence of the lady of the house, obediently following every order. As the family’s finances deteriorate, marital tensions grow, and he faces abuse, Joseph decides to leave.

Biography

Anka Sasnal (b. 1973) is a director, screenwriter, and editor.

Wilheml Sasnal (b. 1972) is a painter, illustrator, filmmaker, and comic book artist. His works have been widely exhibited and awarded, with solo shows at major institutions including Centre Pompidou, Tate Modern, and MoMA.

For nearly 15 years, they have been making films, which have screened at leading international festivals including Berlinale, Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Toronto, and IFF Rotterdam.

They live and work in Kraków.
