Biography
Pierre Richard (born August 16, 1934, Valenciennes, France) is a French actor, director, and screenwriter, and one of the most renowned comedians in European cinema. His real name is Pierre-Richard Maurice Charles Léfevre. He studied acting at the Paris Conservatory of Dramatic Arts. He rose to fame in the 1970s through his roles in comedies, where he created the image of a naïve, clumsy, yet charming dreamer. International recognition came with The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe (1972) and its sequel, as well as with The Toy (1976), La Chevre (Knock on Wood / The Goat, 1981), and Les Compères (ComDads, 1983). In addition to his acting career, Richard has also directed several films. Over decades of creative work, he has received numerous awards and remains a beloved figure for generations of audiences.
