Biography
Kelly Reichardt is an American filmmaker, screenwriter, and editor, widely regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in U.S. independent cinema. Born in 1964 in Miami, Florida, she made her feature debut with River of Grass (1994), which premiered at Sundance and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. She gained international recognition with Old Joy (2006) and Wendy and Lucy (2008), followed by Meek’s Cutoff (2010), Certain Women (2016), and First Cow (2019), all of which screened at major festivals including Cannes, Berlin, and Venice.
Combining poetic imagery with strong social insight, Kelly Reichardt has established herself as one of the most original and consistent auteurs of contemporary cinema.
